On the 15th and 16th June 2024, KCA University witnessed a vibrant gathering of over 50 alums for the Alumni Weekend Tour which was well organized and coordinated by Audrey B. Kubwa, the Manager in charge of Special Projects & Alumni Relations as an activation of the Alumni Eastern Chapter. This event was a remarkable opportunity for past students to reconnect, reminisce, and strengthen the bonds of their shared academic heritage
The adventure began in the bustling heart of Nairobi CBD on day one, and the destination was set for Kitui. The initial stop was at the KCA University Kitengela Campus, where the team received a warm welcome from Chapter Representatives, the Campus Director, Dr. Fred Sporta, fellow alums, and student leaders. Dr. Sporta remarked, “It is heartwarming to see so many alumni unite to strengthen our community and contribute to our shared mission. This event symbolizes our commitment to fostering lasting connections and giving back to society.”
Following a brief campus tour, the group proceeded to Maanzooni Lodge, hosted by alumnus Michael Muli. The alums engaged in a meaningful tree-planting activity, symbolizing growth and sustainability. The team then explored Machakos County, with a scenic drive via — road to Masii Resort. At the resort, a team-building session fostered camaraderie and strengthened relationships among the members.
The afternoon led the alums to Kitui, where they visited the iconic Nzambani Rock, also known as Ivia ya Nzambani. This renowned tourist site, located about 12.7 kilometers from Kitui town along the Kitui-Mutitu road, which offers breathtaking views and a touch of local history. The evening was spent at Kitui Premier Resort, where the alumni chairperson, CPA Felix Ratemo led the group for a brief meeting to deliberate on the tour and alumni relations. Day two began with the team departing from Kitui Premier Resort and heading towards Meru. The journey traversed the diverse landscapes of Kitui County, Embu County, and Tharaka Nithi County. Local members warmly welcomed the Alumni, some of whom had been part of the University since the early 2000s. This reunion highlighted the need for a vibrant chapter in the region to keep the spirit of KCA University alive.
Alba Hotel: Planting Seeds of Growth The members convened at Alba Hotel, where another tree-planting session took place. This act of planting trees marked their presence and symbolized the growth and enduring legacy of KCA University in the region. The session was followed by a late lunch, allowing members to relax and enjoy each other’s company before returning to Nairobi. The KCA University Alumni Weekend Tour was more than just a trip; it celebrated unity, growth, and the enduring connections formed within the university’s halls. The activation of the Eastern Chapter promises a future of continued engagement and support among Alumni. As the team returned to Nairobi, they carried with them cherished memories and a renewed sense of community, ready to contribute to KCA University’s ongoing success.
